It was about this time last year that my cousin had her stroke. She had been battling cancer for a few years, and the intense chemotherapy began making her bones brittle. Walking became more of a task than second nature and taking care of her 5- year- old twin daughters was borderline impossible.

17 October 2007, Kimberly saw her last day as a cousin, daughter, wife and mother. Just looking at her picture still makes my eyes swell up, and my hands go numb. It's funny.. sometimes, I even think I can hear her voice.
